Our programs include visiting the Royal Palace and its Emerald Buddha, the lying Buddha Temple, Jim Thomson's house, the flower market and the highest tower in Bangkok, plus a boat trip on canals to discover some hidden places, and also an unforgettable cruising dinner on the Royal River.
Besides all these, we also suggest you meet the popular Bangkok, the one tourists very seldom come across. So, as a complement to the more usual tours quoted overhead, we advise you to look up the following half-day modules. You can make up your own trip and tell us your choice. We'll then devise a personal program for you according to your availability and to the visits you have chosen.
HALF DAY A : KOH KRET ISLAND
You begin by sailing to Ko Kret island, the pottery island where the Mohn have been living for 300 years (a Hindu tribe who first emigrated to Burma before taking shelter in Thailand). We will visit the island where you'll appreciate its temple and its handicraft market. According to the program you'll be able also to listen to a traditional Thai orchestra concert. This is a nice place, far from the frantic life of Bangkok, not yet invaded by tourists, which makes us feel as if in a small village.
HALF DAY B :
Wat Sutat Woravihan You will start by visiting the largest Hindu temple in Bangkok, Wat Sutat Woravihan, better known as WAT SAO CHING CHA, where you'll admire an impressive golden Buddha statue and also some fresco paintings representing Hindu mythology.
Ta Tian, Ta Chang and Ta Prachan-Santi Chaï Prakaan.
You will carry on by walking along the TA TIAN, TA CHANG and TA PRACHAN river piers and through a market with mostly Buddhist relics, then you'll arrive at the Ta Chang market where you will board for crossing the CHAO PRAYA River to TA PHRA ATHIT River Harbor (sunshine harbor). You will visit the SANTI CHAI PRAKAAN garden (meaning : Peace Victory) with its wooden house representative of the Thai style, a relaxing place for the Royal family with a view over the Rama 8 bridge and its white brick fort built in 1782.
Plant market.
Lastly you'll end up your trip by walking along the THEVES plant market with its various exotic plants.
Option (if morning): you'll have lunch at the In Love, a riverside restaurant.
HALF DAY C :
Ban Bangkok Museum
You'll visit the Ban Bangkok museum, a wooden house typically lived in by the Thai middle class people in the first half of the twentieth century, nowadays turned into a museum. Besides the house and its furniture representative of that period, there is a room devoted to the discovery of utensils daily used in those days, and another one with a collection of photos and pictures showing life in Bangkok in the early 20th century.
During one visit, you'll be brought back to the life led by the inhabitants of the Bangrak cosmopolitan district.
CHAREON KRUNG
Then you'll continue the tour by walking along CHAROENG KRUNG street among art shops and numerous jeweler's. For stamp collectors, a stop is planned at the Bangkok Central Post Office, where they'll find beautiful collections.
Option (if morning), you'll have lunch at the Gallery café, a Thai restaurant amidst the art Galleries of Charoen Krung street
HALF DAY D :
CHINESE DISTRICT
This half-day will be devoted to visiting the Chinese district. You'll have a walk through very busy wholesale shopping galleries displaying a huge choice of goods, very cheap to buy. You'll also walk along one of the main streets lined with a lot of shops and jeweller's.
DRAGON TEMPLE
Afterwards, in the heart of the Chinese district, you'll visit the DRAGON TEMPLE, with its four golden warrior statues and hundreds of incense sticks.
The Old Siam
This visit continues with a shopping session at the Old Siam commercial center with Thai food, jeweler's and clothe shops.
Indian district.
You will end up this half-day by visiting the Indian district and more precisely the PRAHURAT street with numerous material shops.
HALF DAY E :
Suan Pakkad palace museum
You will start the tour with the visit of SUAN PAKKAD PALACE, a museum of the Rama V period (1853-1910). This museum is mainly composed of 8 traditional teak houses. Everyone has its own universe: traditional Thai music instruments, period furniture in lead with mother-of-pearl, or numerous art object collections (Ming vases, porcelain, Indian art, Khmer statues or royal relics). The museum also presents several galleries such as the prehistoric art relic gallery from Ban Chiang province, another one dedicated to Marsi (a well known artist, living in France, the great grand-daughter of Rama V) as well as the lacquer house with its great wall paintings. This museum is really pleasant and lively especially if you are lucky enough to be escorted by a guide who will entertain you with plenty of anecdotes.
Bangsue
You will finish this tour by a shopping stroll along a little street in Bangsue where craftsmen make wooden furniture and decorative artifacts. Don't hesitate to enter the shops, they contain uncountable objects likely to find their place in your home.
